Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Design and Analysis:
- Structural Analysis: Perform complex calculations to determine the loads (pressures, stresses, and strains) on various structural elements, such as beams, columns, and foundations.
- Conceptual and Detailed Design: Develop initial and final structural designs for new constructions, renovations, or repairs, ensuring the stability and integrity of the whole structure.
- Computer Modelling: Utilise specialised software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000) for structural modelling, analysis, and simulation to predict how the structure will behave under different conditions.
- Drawings and Documentation: Prepare detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications using CAD/BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for construction use.
- Material Selection: Advise on the appropriate construction materials (steel, concrete, timber, masonry) based on strength, durability, cost, and environmental factors.
Compliance and Project Management:
- Code Compliance: Ensure all designs strictly adhere to local, national, and international building codes, safety standards, and regulations.
- Collaboration: Liaise closely with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and project managers to integrate the structural design with aesthetic, functional, and site requirements.
- Reporting: Prepare technical reports, design summaries, and progress updates for clients, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders.
- Budget and Time Management: Contribute to project management, including estimating material quantities, managing the structural budget, and adhering to project timelines.
Construction and Inspection:
- Construction Oversight: Monitor and inspect work on-site to ensure contractors are following the structural drawings and specifications accurately.
- Quality Control: Conduct tests and inspections to verify the quality of materials and workmanship during the construction process.
- Problem Resolution: Address and resolve technical challenges, discrepancies, or unforeseen issues that arise during construction.
- Existing Structures: Conduct structural integrity assessments of existing buildings (e.g., for renovations, change of use, or after damage) and recommend necessary repairs or modifications.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil / structural Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or in progress.
- Proven experience in structural design and project management.
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., STAAD, SAP 2000, ETABS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specific infrastructure projects (e.g., transportation, water resources).
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices and environmental regulations.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.

Remuneration: NGN 200,000 - 250,000
