Business Development Lead
Job summary
A growing agribusiness and food processing company seeks a contract southwest commercial lead to identify and qualify bulk garri buyers, validate demand assumptions, conduct field-based buyer intelligence, and arrange direct meetings with serious decision-makers across Southwest Nigeria.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Building a verified pipeline of qualified Southwest bulk garri buyers
- Capturing buyer data including volume, pricing, payment terms, bag size, quality preference, pickup expectations, and decision maker details
- Arranging direct Stage 2 commercial calls with shortlisted serious buyers
- Producing clear weekly reports with buyer seriousness scoring and next-step recommendations
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, trade sales, commodity trading, food distribution, or agribusiness commercial roles
- Strong knowledge of Southwest Nigeria markets, especially Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Lagos
- Experience dealing with wholesalers, aggregators, institutional buyers, distributors, or bulk commodity buyers
- Strong field execution and reporting discipline
- Must be comfortable with market visits, buyer interviews, and arranging direct decision-maker meetings
- Experience in food staples, agro-processing, or commodity channels is strongly preferred
- Existing commercial relationships in relevant buyer networks is a major advantage
- Experience with garri, cassava, food staples, agro-processing, or bulk commodity buyers is strongly preferred.
