Solar Technician (Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria)


About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and dependable Solar Technician to join our team in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting solar power systems for residential and commercial clients.


This role is field-based and requires someone who is practical, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of an installation team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install solar panels, inverters, batteries, and related electrical components
  • Perform site inspections and assist with system setup
  • Carry out wiring, testing, and commissioning of solar systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty solar installations
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and system inspections
  • Ensure installations comply with safety and quality standards
  • Assist with load assessments and basic system configuration
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and installation records
  • Work with engineers and project supervisors during installations
  • Provide basic client guidance on system operation and maintenance


Requirements

  • OND, Technical Certificate, or relevant electrical/solar training
  • 1–4+ years of hands-on solar installation experience
  • Good understanding of solar panels, batteries, inverters, and electrical wiring
  • Ability to use electrical and installation tools safely
  • Basic troubleshooting and fault-detection skills
  • Ability to work on-site and travel when required
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of electrical safety practices


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hybrid or off-grid solar systems
  • Electrical installation background
  • Solar installation certification is an advantage
  • Ability to read basic electrical diagrams
  • Valid driver’s license is a plus
