Job summary
The Social Media Manager is responsible for developing, executing, and optimising the organisation’s social media strategy to grow audience engagement, brand awareness, and community loyalty. The role combines strategic planning, real-time content management, and data-driven optimisation, ensuring the organisation maintains a strong, authentic, and consistent presence across all relevant social platforms. The position exists to connect fans with the sport, athletes, and the brand through compelling, timely digital storytelling.

Responsibilities:
- Define and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned to brand, marketing, and commercial objectives.
- Plan and manage content calendars aligned to fixtures, events, campaigns, and announcements.
- Publish and moderate content across key platforms including Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Deliver real-time and live-event coverage during matches, competitions, and press moments.
- Grow followers, engagement, reach, and community interaction across platforms.
- Collaborate with content, design, editorial, and marketing teams to deliver platform-optimised content.
- Monitor trends, conversations, and sentiment to inform content and engagement approaches.
- Manage community engagement, including comments, messages, and escalations.
- Track performance using analytics tools and report insights and recommendations.
- Ensure all content complies with brand, safeguarding, and regulatory guidelines.
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing social media accounts for brands, organisations, or personalities.
- Strong understanding of major social platforms and their algorithms, including Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
- Hands-on experience using social media management tools (e.g. Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Buffer, native platform tools).
- Ability to create and edit social-first content, including copywriting, short-form video, and basic graphic design.
- Proficiency with content creation tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of social media analytics, metrics, and performance optimisation.
- Experience managing real-time content in fast-paced or live environments.
- Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to tone, accuracy, and brand voice.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Experience working in sports, media, entertainment, or live-event environments.
- Familiarity with community management, safeguarding, and crisis response.
- Understanding of paid social, influencer collaboration, and campaign amplification.
- Experience using analytics platforms such as Meta Insights, X Analytics, TikTok Analytics, or Google Analytics.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices (captions, alt text, inclusive language).
- Experience collaborating with athletes, creators, or brand ambassadors.
- Passion for sport and strong understanding of fan behaviours and digital culture.
