Shipping / Clearance Assistant
Job summary
Manage the end-to-end shipping and customs process for purchased vehicles, from auction win through port arrival and customer delivery. Coordinate freight forwarders, shipping lines and clearing agents, maintain accurate landed costs, track documentation and provide timely shipment updates.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Assists the shipping and clearance coordinator to manage the shipping and customs process for every purchased vehicle from auction win to port arrival to customer delivery.
- Assists the shipping and clearance coordinator to coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs clearing agents.
- Prepares and tracks all documentation: bill of lading, PAAR, customs duty payments, and delivery paperwork.
- Maintains and communicates accurate, published all-in landed costs (the "No Hidden Costs" promise) — flags any deviation immediately to management.
- Coordinates container arrival timing with the marketing team so offloading and delivery moments are filmed as proof content.
- Tracks and reports on shipment status to both the sales team and management.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years in freight forwarding
- Customs clearance or shipping/logistics coordination, ideally with experience importing vehicles into Nigeria specifically.
- Working knowledge of Nigerian customs procedures
- Port operations (Apapa/Tin Can) and PAAR documentation.
- Established working relationships with clearing agents and freight forwarders is a strong advantage.
- Highly organized — this role is accountable for cost accuracy and timeline promises made in marketing and sales.
