Company Description The Katsina State Hospital Services Management Board (KTHSMB) is a centralized body responsible for overseeing and managing government general and specialist hospitals across all 34 local government areas of Katsina State. Established under the Katsina State Hospital Services Management Board Law after the creation of Katsina State in 1987, the Board was designed to improve secondary healthcare administration and service delivery. KTHSMB focuses on accountability, transparency, and quality assurance in hospital operations, workforce management, and infrastructure development. Its mandate includes staff training, data management, community outreach coordination, and the integration of digital tools to enhance monitoring and healthcare services for a growing population.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Senior Pharmacy Technician role based in Dutsinma A. The Senior Pharmacy Technician will support pharmacists in dispensing medications, interpreting and processing prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and hospital policies. Responsibilities include supervising pharmacy technicians, maintaining accurate medication records, managing inventory and stock levels, and monitoring the storage conditions of pharmaceuticals. The role also involves providing courteous and clear customer service to patients and healthcare teams, assisting with medication counseling under the direction of a pharmacist, and contributing to quality assurance and safety initiatives within the pharmacy unit.
Qualifications

  • Strong prescription handling skills, including interpreting, processing, and verifying prescriptions for accuracy and safety.
  • Solid knowledge of pharmacy operations and practices, including medication nomenclature, dosage forms, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience working as a pharmacy technician, with the ability to supervise and guide junior pharmacy technicians.
  • Proficiency in inventory control, including stock management, ordering, receipt, and prevention of medication shortages or wastage.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Relevant pharmacy technician certification or diploma from an accredited institution; eligibility for registration with appropriate regulatory bodies.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with basic computer systems and pharmacy-related software; experience in hospital or clinical settings is an advantage.
