Role Description The Senior Exploration Geologist is a full-time hybrid role based in Abuja, with a mix of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility. The role involves planning, supervising, and executing exploration programs, including geological mapping, drilling oversight, and core logging for various mineral projects. The Senior Exploration Geologist will interpret geochemical and geological data, develop exploration models, and prepare technical reports, maps, and presentations to support investment and project development decisions. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating field teams, ensuring adherence to health, safety, environmental, and ESG standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary experts in GIS, finance, and regulatory advisory. The role also requires mentoring junior geoscientists, engaging with clients and partners, and contributing to data-driven targeting strategies across CKAA Synergy Limited’s project portfolio.
Qualifications
- Strong field-based geological skills, including Geological Mapping and Logging, with the ability to plan and lead exploration campaigns.
- Experience in Drilling supervision and Core Logging, including sampling protocols, QA/QC procedures, and drill data management.
- Proficiency in Geochemistry, including data interpretation, anomaly identification, and integration with geological and geospatial models.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Mining Engineering or a related discipline, with significant experience in mineral exploration (senior-level responsibility preferred).
- Working knowledge of GIS and 3D geological modeling software, and comfort with data-driven targeting and digital reporting tools.
- Demonstrated understanding of ESG principles, regulatory frameworks, and responsible mining practices relevant to African mineral projects.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and work effectively in a hybrid environment combining fieldwork, office, and remote collaboration.
