Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Build systems primarily through advanced AI coding agents — specifically ChatGPT Codex, Claude, and Gemini.
• Design backend components, structure system logic, and implement features by directing and refining AI-generated code.
• Think and operate at a senior backend engineering level while maintaining architectural clarity, execution control, and system integrity.

Requirements:

Backend Engineering Foundations:

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 4+ years backend-focused experience (Python strongly preferred).
• Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, system design).
• Proven experience contributing to production-grade backend systems.
• Ability to design and reason about modular system architecture.

AI-Driven Development:

• Minimum 2 years actively using AI coding agents (Codex, Claude, Gemini or similar) in real engineering workflows.
• AI agents are part of your daily development process.
• Experience operating multiple AI agents in parallel while maintaining architectural consistency.
• Ability to design backend components using AI-generated code.
• Ability to detect hallucinations, logical flaws, and unsafe patterns in AI outputs.
• Experience with structured outputs and tool-calling workflows.

Agent Execution & System Interaction:

• Experience working in environments where AI agents trigger real system actions through tools, APIs, file systems, or databases.
• Clear understanding of how structured AI outputs translate into executable system behavior.
• Ability to manage and validate execution flow from instruction to system-level action.

Database & System Discovery:

• Strong relational database experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).
• Experience in analyzing and reverse-engineering database schemas.
• Ability to extract and document tables, relationships, constraints, and access flows.

Documentation & QA Discipline:

• Minimum 2 years producing structured technical documentation.
• Ability to document architecture, database structure, and technical decisions clearly.
• Strong QA mindset focused on validation, reproducibility, and system integrity.
• Comfortable reviewing and refining AI-generated implementations.

Leadership & Developer Management:

• Minimum 2 years of experience managing, mentoring, or leading developers.
• Strong code review experience and ability to enforce engineering standards.
• Ability to maintain architectural alignment across contributors.

Technical Environment:

• Strong proficiency in Visual Studio Code or equivalent IDE.
• Comfortable working across multiple screens (minimum 2, 3 preferred).
• Stable remote work environment.

Good to Have Skills:

• Experience with Cursor or other AI-augmented development tools.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
• Experience in financial or trading-related systems.
• Experience working in distributed international engineering teams.
