This role plays a critical role in delivering high-quality legal advisory services on complex capital markets and M&A transactions. The role combines advanced technical execution, client management, and team supervision, with growing responsibility for business development and practice support.

Legal Advisory & M&A Transaction Support
- The Senior Associate will support Partners in leading transactions, managing key aspects of client relationships, mentoring junior lawyers, and contributing to the growth, visibility, and operational excellence of the CM&A practice across domestic and cross-border engagements.
- Advising clients on capital markets transactions, including IPOs, private placements, rights issues, bond issuances, listings, and public company transactions
- Supporting and leading components of M&A transactions (private and public), including deal structuring, legal due diligence, negotiations, and transaction execution.
- Drafting, reviewing, and coordinating transaction documentation, regulatory filings, prospectuses, information memoranda, and disclosure statements.
- Liaising with and supporting regulatory engagements with bodies such as the SEC, NGX, NASD, CBN and CAC, under Partner supervision.
- Ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and commercial relevance of all advice and documentation. Practice Stream Support & Market Awareness
- Supporting Partners in the development and implementation of CM&A practice initiatives, including service offerings and sector focus.
- Monitoring market trends, deal activity, and regulatory developments relevant to capital markets and M&A.
- Contributing to legal opinions, transaction precedents, client updates, and thought leadership materials.
Business Development & Client Engagement:
- Supporting business development efforts through client relationship management, pitch preparation, and cross-practice collaboration.
- Assisting with the preparation of legal opinions, investment guides, regulatory updates, and client-facing materials.
- Participating in client meetings, industry events, and training sessions to enhance the firm’s market profile.
Team Leadership & Capability Building:
- Supervising, mentoring, and reviewing the work of Associates and Trainees within the CM&A practice stream.
- Providing on-the-job coaching and technical guidance to support team development and consistent service delivery.
- Contributing to performance feedback, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
Operational Excellence
- Managing assigned aspects of matters from initiation to completion, including timelines, deliverables, and coordination with internal teams.
- Supporting matter budgeting, time recording, and billing processes to ensure efficiency and profitability.
- Maintaining high standards of risk management, documentation quality, and compliance with firm policies.

Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and B.L from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 7-10 years post-call experience in capital markets and/or M&A
- Postgraduate qualification (LL.M) in Capital Markets, Corporate Law,
- Commercial Law, or a related discipline, is desirable.
- Proven track record in advising on and managing capital raising, listings,
- acquisitions, and regulatory engagements.
