About the Firm
Juwon Babalola Law Practice is a growing legal practice with a presence across Abuja, Lagos, Istanbul, and London, and expanding operations in the United States. We advise clients on corporate transactions, dispute resolution, debt recovery, real estate, and general litigation matters, combining international best practices with deep knowledge of Nigerian law.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and self-directed Senior Associate Attorney to join our Abuja office. This role is suited to a lawyer ready to independently manage a full caseload, mentor junior team members, and work closely with firm leadership on high-value client matters and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage litigation, debt recovery, and corporate/commercial matters from intake through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, and court filings, and represent the firm in court appearances
- Lead negotiation and drafting of complex contracts and commercial agreements
- Provide strategic legal counsel directly to clients on case status and risk
- Conduct and oversee legal research and prepare memoranda on complex legal issues
- Support and review the work of junior associates or paralegals
- Contribute to business development and client relationship management
- Support transactional and estate work, including agreements, trusts, and property matters
Requirements
- Called to the Nigerian Bar (BL required)
- 5 to 7 years post-call experience in litigation and/or corporate practice
- Demonstrated ability to manage a full caseload independently
- Strong legal drafting, negotiation, and research skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and client service orientation
- Based in or willing to relocate to Abuja
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with debt recovery, real estate, or commercial contract matters
- Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior lawyers
- Interest in growing with a firm that is expanding internationally
Compensation
₦400,000 – ₦800,000/month, commensurate with experience
