Job Summary
The school public relations consultant is responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies to enhance the public image and reputation of the school. They will work closely with school leaders, staff, and community stakeholders to ensure consistent and positive messaging in all communication channels. The consultant will also handle crisis management and proactively engage with various media outlets to promote the school’s achievements, events and mission.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive public relations strategy to promote the school’s image, goals and values.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including parents, students, staff, media outlets and community leaders.
- Draft and distribute press releases newsletters, another form of communication to ensure consistency messaging and timely update on school related news.
- Serve as the primary media contact for the school, handling inquiries, scheduling interviews, and proactively pitching stories to local media outlets.
- Monitor and respond to online platforms, including social media channels, to promote positive engagement and address concerns or issues promptly.
- Plan and coordinate events to enhance the school’s visibility in the community, such as open houses, fundraisers and community service initiatives
- Collaborate with school staff and administrators to develop and execute communication plans for major initiatives, such as new programs, policies or strategic plans.
- Advise school leaders on crisis management strategies and develop crisis communication plans to effectively handle potential issues.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and public sentiment related to the schools’ providing reports and recommendations for improving as needed.
- Stay updated on the latest trends tools, and strategies in public relations to ensure the school’s communication efforts remain effective and relevant.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field.
- Proven experience in public relations, preferable within an educational setting or similar organizations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adept messaging for different audiences and platforms
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in utilizing various communication tools and platforms including social media management.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and effectively prioritize tasks.
- Knowledge of crisis communication and media relations best practices.
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilitiesÂ
