Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Sales & Marketing Manager role based in Owode. The Sales & Marketing Manager will drive sales growth for the company’s publishing products by identifying new markets, nurturing relationships with schools, bookstores, distributors, and institutional clients, and ensuring effective sales coverage of assigned territories. The role includes planning and executing marketing campaigns, coordinating product promotions and book launches, and conducting market research to understand customer needs and competitive trends. The manager will prepare sales forecasts, track performance against targets, and provide regular reports to leadership. Day-to-day responsibilities also include supervising and motivating sales representatives, organizing field visits, gathering feedback from customers, and collaborating with editorial and production teams to align sales and marketing efforts with product offerings.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sales and marketing, preferably within publishing, education, FMCG, or related industries, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Strong client relationship management skills, including the ability to engage schools, bookstores, distributors, and institutional buyers and maintain long-term partnerships.
  • Solid understanding of marketing principles, including campaign planning, branding, promotions, and basic digital marketing channels.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain product value clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a sales team, organize field activities, and coordinate efforts across departments.
  • Good analytical and reporting skills, including the ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and customer feedback to inform strategy.
  • Comfortable with regular travel within and around Owode and other assigned regions to visit clients and attend events.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency in basic office and productivity tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, presentation software); familiarity with CRM tools is an advantage.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and goal-oriented, with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
