Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position located in Port Harcourt. The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing health and safety policies, conducting safety audits, ensuring workplace compliance with safety regulations, and identifying potential hazards. Additional responsibilities include leading accident investigations, delivering safety training sessions, and advising on strategies to mitigate security risks. The Safety Officer will work closely with various teams to foster a culture of workplace safety and accident prevention.


Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site inspections and enforce HSE policies.

• Identify hazards and implement corrective actions.

• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions.

• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near‑misses; prepare reports.

• Ensure compliance with Nigerian HSE regulations and company standards.

• Maintain safety documentation, permits, and records.

• Monitor use of PPE and ensure safe work practices.

• Support emergency response planning and drills.


Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Health & Safety management and comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health standards
  • Experience in conducting Accident Investigations to identify root causes and implement preventative measures
  • Expertise in Safety Training, including developing and delivering safety programs for employees
  • Understanding of Security protocols and risk management in a workplace environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to assess and mitigate risks effectively under time-sensitive conditions
  • Certifications such as NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) or relevant safety certifications are a strong advantage
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field is preferred
