Job summary
The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment by implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies. The role focuses on accident prevention, risk assessment, and compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and enforce workplace health and safety policies
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits
- Identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend control measures
- Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and company standards
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses and prepare reports
- Conduct safety inductions, trainings, and toolbox talks
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Maintain safety records, permits, and documentation
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and management on safety matters
- Promote a strong safety culture across the organization
Requirements:
- HND/Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
- Professional HSE certification (NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is an advantage
- 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer or similar role
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Ability to identify hazards and implement preventive measures
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and on-site
