Job summary

The Risk Management Officer is responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating financial, operational, regulatory, and compliance risks within the organization. The role supports management in safeguarding the organization’s assets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting effective risk control frameworks to minimize losses

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, analyze, and evaluate potential risks (credit, operational, and reputational risks)
  • Develop and implement risk management policies, procedures, and controls
  • Monitor compliance with internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and risk limits
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments and prepare risk reports for management
  • Support credit risk assessments and review loan documentation where applicable
  • Monitor risk exposure and report early warning signals to management
  • Assist in fraud detection, prevention, and investigation processes
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Liaise with internal auditors, compliance officers, and regulators as required
  • Support business units in understanding and managing risk in their operations
  • Perform other risk-related duties as assigned by management


Requirements:

  • HND / B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Law, or a related field
  • 1–3 years experience in risk management, audit, compliance, or control functions
  • Knowledge of risk management frameworks and regulatory guidelines
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and risk reporting tools
  • Good understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail
