Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Prepare daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and other meals as required.
- Prepare a variety of Nigerian and continental dishes.
- Plan meals based on the household's preferences and requirements.
- Prepare meals in a clean, hygienic, and professional manner.
- Maintain proper cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, cooking equipment, and storage areas.
- Monitor food supplies and notify the employer when items need to be replenished.
- Prepare appropriate shopping lists for food and kitchen supplies.
- Properly store food items to maintain freshness and prevent wastage.
- Ensure proper food handling and hygiene standards at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organised refrigerator, pantry, and kitchen.
- Accommodate reasonable dietary preferences and special meal requests.
- Minimise food wastage while maintaining quality.
- Assist with occasional cooking for guests and family events when required.
- Perform other reasonable household cooking-related duties assigned by the employer.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of professional cooking experience.
- Previous experience working as a private, household, resident, or family chef is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian cuisine and good knowledge of continental dishes.
- Good food preparation and presentation skills.
- Excellent personal hygiene and kitchen hygiene.
- Ability to plan meals and manage food supplies responsibly.
- Must be reliable, respectful, disciplined, and trustworthy.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills.
- Must be willing to reside at the employer's residence in Amuwo-Odofin.
- Candidates with relevant culinary training or certification will be an advantage.
