Kon-X is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to lead estimating, project costing, tendering, procurement, and commercial control across its business lines, including construction, maintenance, building materials, and development. The successful candidate will bring strong commercial judgment and cost-management discipline to projects.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Bills of Quantities, cost estimates and tender documentation.
  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications and site information.
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed project cost plans.
  • Develop project budgets and cost benchmarks.
  • Build and maintain current databases of labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor rates.
  • Prepare pricing for tenders, quotations and project proposals.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor quotations for completeness and competitiveness.
  • Support procurement negotiations and vendor comparisons.
  • Evaluate project costs and advise on commercially appropriate pricing and margins.
  • Monitor actual project costs against approved budgets.
  • Prepare periodic cost reports and cost-to-complete forecasts.
  • Identify potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assess variations, additional works and contractor claims.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Support value engineering and cost optimization.
  • Maintain appropriate commercial and project documentation.
  • Support pricing and costing of maintenance and facilities-management services.
  • Provide cost intelligence for building materials and new product categories.
  • Support financial and cost analysis for development and real estate opportunities.
  • Work closely with technical and operational teams to ensure projects remain commercially viable.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong experience preparing BOQs, estimates, tender pricing and project cost reports.
  • Good understanding of Nigerian construction costs, labour rates and material pricing.
  • Demonstrated project cost-control experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and quantity-measurement skills.
  • Demonstrated commercial mindset, with the ability to build relationships, identify business opportunities and contribute to business development and revenue growth alongside core functional responsibilities.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience across building construction, MEP, facilities management, engineering or related projects.
  • Experience working with both contractors and client-side project teams.
  • Familiarity with quantity surveying, estimating or project-management software.
  • Familiarity with Odoo or another ERP platform is an advantage.
  • Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) and registration with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) are preferred.
