Job summary
The Quantity Surveyor is the commercial presence on the ground, ensuring that all work is measured accurately, all additional costs are captured, and all subcontractor claims are assessed against site reality.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Conduct all on-site measurements of completed works across all blocks
- Agree monthly subcontractor interim valuations on site with subcontractor commercial representatives
- Record and agree all daywork sheets on site; maintain the daywork register
- Monitor and reconcile materials delivered to the site against programme requirements and budget allowances
- Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor with variation measurement and assessment
- Maintain site commercial records: delivery notes, labour returns, plant records, and site instructions with cost implications
- Report commercial issues arising on site to the Senior Quantity Surveyor immediately
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying; minimum 6 years of site quantity surveying experience
- Strong site measurement skills; proficient in taking off from drawings
- Methodical and thorough in site measurement
- Good interpersonal skills for commercial negotiations with subcontractors on site
- Well-organised; maintains accurate and up-to-date commercial records daily
