Job summary

We are seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage the financial and contractual aspects of construction and infrastructure projects.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and tender documents for construction projects.
  • Develop project budgets and cost plans from concept through project completion.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to support project planning and decision-making.
  • Prepare material take-offs and estimate labour, equipment, and material costs.
  • Prepare tender documentation and evaluate contractor and supplier bids.
  • Assist in contract negotiations and procurement activities.
  • Administer construction contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
  • Monitor contract variations, claims, and change orders.
  • Monitor project costs and prepare regular cost reports and forecasts.
  • Evaluate interim payment applications and certify contractor valuations.
  • Prepare final accounts and reconcile project expenditures.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering solutions.
  • Ensure effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
  • Attend site meetings and conduct site visits to assess project progress.
  • Review drawings and specifications to identify potential cost implications.
  • Provide commercial advice and recommendations to project stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate project cost records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and relevant construction regulations.
  • Prepare financial and contractual reports for management.
  • Support dispute resolution and claims management where required.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of an HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Building Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Proven years of relevant experience in quantity surveying or construction cost management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Experience with quantity surveying and estimating software such as CostX, WinQS, PlanSwift, Cubit, or similar applications.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, procurement processes, contracts, and cost management principles.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and report-writing abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
