The Quality Control Officer carries out the routine quality checks that determine whether raw materials, work in progress and finished goods meet specifications, and maintains accurate records of the results. Responsibilities:
- Inspect and test incoming raw materials and packaging against specification and record the outcome.
- Carry out in-process quality checks at the required frequency, covering fill weight, moisture, blend consistency, seal integrity and coding.
- Test finished goods against product specification before release.
- Recommend release, hold or rejection of batches and place non-conforming material on hold.
- Maintain QC logbooks, batch test records and analysis results daily, weekly and monthly.
- Take, label, store and dispose of retention samples in line with the retention schedule.
- Operate laboratory and test equipment and maintain the calibration register.
- Log non-conformances and customer complaints, carry out the initial investigation, and report findings.
- Carry out and record hygiene, cleaning and sanitation checks, and monitor pest control service.
- Monitor and record critical control points and escalate deviations.
- Monitor and record effluent treatment and disposal and support regulatory liaison.
- Maintain registration certificates and inspection records and flag renewal dates.
- Submit daily, weekly and monthly quality reports to the Production Manager.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience
- A minimum of a degree in a related field
