Protection Officer
Job summary
Supporting the implementation of protection activities, monitoring & responding to protection concerns, case management, referrals, and community engagement. The job requires close coordination with local authorities, community stakeholders & other humanitarian partners to ensure timely and effective protection interventions in Gusau & Bungudu LGAs

Responsibilities:
- Conduct protection monitoring and risk assessments in affected/intervention communities.
- Identify and respond to protection concerns, including individual case management and referrals to specialized services.
- Support the establishment and training of community protection structures and focal points.
- Facilitate awareness-raising activities on rights, protection services, and reporting mechanisms.
- Work with community leaders, government agencies, and local partners to strengthen protection systems.
- Contribute to the development of protection-focused reports, assessments, and data collection tools.
- Ensure confidential and secure documentation of protection cases using appropriate data management tools.
- Participate in protection meetings and coordinate with other sectors (e.g., health, shelter, and education) to ensure integrated responses.
- Promote the mainstreaming of protection principles in all program activities, including Do No Harm, non-discrimination, and meaningful access.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, Psychology, International Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in protection programming, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
- Knowledge of humanitarian protection principles and experience working in conflict-affected areas.
- The candidate must be a female indigene of Zamfara State.
- Familiarity with protection tools, assessments, and case management procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with diverse groups.
- Proficiency in English and Hausa is required. Fluency in local languages spoken in Zamfara (e.g., Fulfulde) is a strong asset.
- Ability to work independently and in remote or hard-to-reach areas.
- Good report writing and data collection skills.
