Job summary

The Projectionist is responsible for operating and monitoring the cinema’s projection and audiovisual systems to ensure high-quality, seamless, and uninterrupted movie presentations. The role ensures that all screenings meet the cinema’s technical and premium service standards.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor digital cinema projection and audiovisual systems.
  • Conduct pre-screening checks to ensure projectors, servers, sound systems, screens, and related equipment are functioning properly

  • Monitor picture quality, sound, brightness, focus, and overall presentation throughout screenings.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues promptly to minimise disruption to guests.

  • Perform routine checks and basic maintenance of projection and sound equipment.

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment faults, technical issues, screenings, and maintenance activities.

  • Report major technical faults and maintenance requirements to the appropriate supervisor or technical team.

  • Liaise with technical vendors and service providers when specialised repairs are required.

  • Ensure the projection room and equipment are clean, organised, secure, and properly maintained.

  • Follow all technical operating procedures, HSE requirements, and safety standards.

  • Support technical requirements for VIP screenings, premieres, private events, and special presentations.

  • Ensure backup procedures are followed to minimise interruptions to scheduled screenings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.



Requirements:

  • OND, HND, or B.Sc. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in cinema projection, audiovisual operations, broadcast, entertainment technology, or a similar technical role.
  • Experience operating digital cinema projection systems is highly desirable.

  • Basic knowledge of digital cinema servers, projectors, sound systems, and audiovisual equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic technical and equipment-related issues.
  • Good understanding of computer systems and technical software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor equipment effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and respond quickly to technical issues.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

    Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

  • High level of reliability, discipline, and commitment to maintaining technical standards.
  • Professional attitude and ability to work within a luxury cinema environment.
