Project Manager
Job summary
We are hiring a Project Manager to own delivery across our product workstreams. You will work closely with our Head of Product, who owns product direction, and our Heads of Engineering and Mobile, who own the build, to turn the roadmap into shipped releases on time, in scope, and without surprises.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end delivery of committed product initiatives across mobile, web, desktop, and backend workstreams, from scoping through to release.
- Break product requirements into clear specifications, milestones, and sprint plans together with the Head of Product.
- Work with Product and Engineering to ensure requirements, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and edge cases are clear before work enters a sprint.
- Run the delivery rhythm: sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Maintain the roadmap, backlog, and delivery board so priorities are visible, sequenced, and realistic.
- Track and report progress weekly: what shipped, what is in flight, what is blocked, and what is at risk.
- Manage dependencies and handoffs across engineering, design, QA, marketing, support, and field operations.
- Drive blockers to resolution and escalate early with options rather than problems.
- Own release coordination: coordinate QA and regression, drive release readiness, and coordinate the go/no-go decision.
- Coordinate operational rollouts including merchant onboarding, POS deployment, and third-party partner integrations such as payment providers.
- Run a live risk register and drive mitigation before risks become incidents.
- Keep documentation current and stakeholders aligned. Leadership should never be the ones discovering a slipped date.
- Track delivery health and velocity, and use the data to improve how we plan the next cycle.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience managing software delivery, or equivalent hands-on experience in a fast-moving product/engineering environment.
- A proven record of shipping software in a fast-moving startup or product team.
- Strong command of Agile and Scrum practices, and comfort running sprints end-to-end.
- Experience working closely with software engineers, designers, QA, and product teams.
- Fluency with delivery tooling such as Jira, Linear, Trello, or Notion.
- Technically literate: you can read API documentation, follow architecture discussions, and ask engineers the right questions without needing to write production code.
- Excellent written and spoken English. You write specs and status updates that people actually read.
- Calm under pressure and comfortable with ambiguity. You build clarity rather than waiting for it.
- Strong follow-through. You close loops without being reminded.
- Experience in fintech, payments, or SME software (nice to have)
- Experience scaling an app from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of users (nice to have).
- Exposure to offline-first or low-connectivity products(nice to have).
- Familiarity with the Nigerian and African SME market (nice to have).
- PMP, CAPM, or Scrum certification is a plus, not a requirement (nice to have).
Benefits:
- Competitive salary, negotiable based on experience.
- Real ownership and direct access to leadership. Your work ships and it matters.
- The chance to build for 28,000+ businesses tracking over $8.8M in monthly sales on the platform.
- Support for professional development and certification.
- Hybrid working with periodic in-person working sessions.
