About Value Female Network Africa


Value Female Network Africa is a public health and social impact organisation committed to advancing the health, protection, and agency of women, girls and young people. The organisation delivers population-level interventions addressing harmful practices, gender-based violence, and sexual and reproductive health, with strong emphasis on community systems strengthening, policy engagement, and innovation. We implement programs across thematic areas, including female genital mutilation, gender-based violence, child marriage, sexual and reproductive health, women's health, adolescent girls’ education and empowerment, child protection, community engagement, leadership development, digital health, and public health innovation.


Job Summary

The Program Officer will support the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Value Female Network Africa’s programs and projects. The officer will work closely with the senior program manager, program team, volunteers, community structures, partners, and stakeholders to ensure that all activities are delivered professionally, timely, and in line with organizational goals, donor requirements, and community needs.

The role requires a highly organized, innovative, responsible, and result-driven individual with strong program management, communication, documentation, digital, and teamwork skills.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate the planning and implementation of VFN Africa’s programs, projects, and field activities.
  2. Support the development of workplans, activity plans, timelines, concept notes, reports, and program documents.
  3. Lead community mobilization and engagement with stakeholders, including traditional leaders, religious leaders, women groups, youth groups, schools, health workers, government agencies, and community volunteers.
  4. Support the implementation of activities addressing female genital mutilation, gender-based violence, harmful practices, sexual and reproductive health, adolescent girls’ empowerment, child protection, and public health innovation.
  5. Support the development of high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, and funding applications.
  6. Monitor program activities to ensure that implementation aligns with approved objectives, timelines, budgets, and expected results.
  7. Prepare quality activity reports, meeting reports, field reports, success stories, attendance records, and other program documentation.
  8. Support data collection, entry, analysis, and reporting for monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning purposes.
  9. Work with the communications team to document program impact through photographs, videos, field stories, testimonies, and social media content.
  10. Represent the organization at meetings, trainings, community engagements, and stakeholder forums when assigned.
  11. Support the development of new program ideas, proposals, partnerships, and innovative interventions that can strengthen the impact of the organization.
  12. Provide support in organizing trainings, workshops, advocacy visits, school activities, community dialogues, campaigns, and outreach programs.
  13. Supervise and support volunteers, interns, peer educators, and community mobilizers during program implementation.
  14. Maintain proper records of program materials, attendance sheets, consent forms, reports, tools, and other project documents.
  15. Generate evidence, learning briefs, and programme insights to inform scale and policy engagement.
  16. Ensure that all program activities uphold safeguarding, confidentiality, child protection, gender sensitivity, and ethical standards.
  17. Support the organization’s administrative and operational processes as they relate to program delivery.
  18. Lead programme risk analysis and mitigation planning.
  19. Collaborate with finance and leadership teams on budget development and tracking.
  20. Perform any other program-related duty assigned by the Executive Director or management.


Required Qualifications

  1. A degree in Public Health, Medicine, Law, Nursing, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Education, Community Health, or any other relevant field.
  2. At least 3 years of progressive relevant experience in program implementation, community development, public health, gender, child protection, or nonprofit work.
  3. Experience working with women, girls, adolescents and young people; communities; schools; government institutions; or civil society organizations will be an added advantage.
  4. Experience in report writing, field coordination, stakeholder engagement, and activity documentation.
  5. Familiarity with the sociocultural landscape of VFN-implementing states, including Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Bauchi, Ogun, Kwara, Kano, Kaduna, and Sokoto States.\

  11. Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other digital collaboration tools.
  12. Ability to use online meeting and collaborative platforms, shared drives, emails, and basic data collection tools.
