Production Manager
Job summary
To carry out the day-to-day mixing, grinding, blending, and processing of paint and coating products in line with approved formulations, ensuring consistent product quality, safety compliance, and efficient use of raw materials.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Weigh, measure, and batch raw materials
- Operate mixing and dispersion equipment correctly and safely
- Monitor viscosity, color match, fineness of grind, and other in-process quality checks at each stage
- Ensure correct sequence and timing of raw material addition per formulation order matters for dispersion quality and stability
- Carry out let-down, tinting, and thinning to match approved standards/samples
Quality Control Support:
- Draw samples at each production stage for QC testing viscosity, color, fineness, drying time before batch approval
- Do not release any batch to packaging without QC sign-off
- Immediately flag any deviation (off-color, poor dispersion, contamination, wrong viscosity to the
- Production Manager/QC — do not attempt to "fix" a failed batch without authorization
- Operate all production machinery (mixers, mills, blenders) per standard operating procedure (SOP) and safety guidelines
- Conduct routine cleaning of equipment between batches to prevent cross-contamination of colors/formulations
- Report any equipment fault, unusual noise, or breakdown immediately — do not attempt unauthorized repairs
- Participate in scheduled equipment maintenance/cleaning as directed
- Minimum of 3–5 years hands-on experience in paint/coatings production, or a related chemical manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of paint types (emulsion, gloss/alkyd, primers) and their basic production processes
- Basic technical literacy: able to read and follow formulation sheets, SOPs, and complete production logs accurately
- OND/technical certification in chemistry, industrial chemistry, or related field is an advantage, though strong practical experience can substitute
- Precision and attention to detail: small measurement errors affect entire batch quality
- Good understanding of raw material behavior (pigment dispersion, resin compatibility, solvent evaporation)
- Physically fit: able to handle drums, lift moderate weights, and stand for extended periods
- Safety-conscious: respects PPE and hazard protocols without needing constant reminders
- Trustworthy and disciplined: handles valuable raw materials and must not divert, waste, or misreport usage
- Team player: production often requires coordinated handoffs between mixing, QC, and packaging stages
- Must be willing to relocate close to the factory.
