Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Operations Management

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all production activities to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly output targets.
  • Manage the entire production workflow, from raw material handling to finished goods, ensuring optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.
  • Implement and enforce strict quality control procedures throughout the production process in coordination with the Quality Assurance team.
  • Ensure all production activities comply with company safety policies, industry standards, and Nigerian environmental and factory regulations.

2. Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, motivate, and supervise production supervisors, line leaders, and operators.
  • Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and develop skills within the team to enhance productivity and safety awareness.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement on the shop floor.

3. Planning & Efficiency

  • Develop production schedules and ensure adherence to deadlines.
  • Analyze production data to monitor efficiency (OEE), identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to improve throughput and reduce waste.
  • Manage production budgets, control operational costs, and minimize downtime and material waste.

4. Maintenance & Compliance

  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Department to ensure all equipment is properly serviced and operational to meet production demands.
  • Ensure the production area maintains 5S standards and good housekeeping practices.
  • Ensure full compliance with all statutory requirements related to manufacturing, health, safety, and environment.

5. Reporting & Coordination

  • Prepare and present regular production reports on performance, output, efficiencies, and incidents to senior management.
  • Coordinate closely with Procurement, Logistics, Quality Assurance, and Warehouse departments to ensure seamless end-to-end operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or related field). A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of production management experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or factory setting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience in the building materials, construction materials, cement, or related heavy industry is highly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of production planning, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems for production planning and control.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Advanced Excel) and production management software.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of local languages (e.g., Yoruba, Pidgin) is advantageous.
