Product Sales Officer
Job summary
The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced Sales Manager with a strong background in modern trade, business-to-business sales, and large or strategic customer segments. The Product Sales Officer is responsible for driving sales performance, expanding product penetration, and supporting profitable business growth across assigned product lines. The role focuses on developing new markets, managing regional and local sales activities, coaching sales teams, and strengthening customer relationships to ensure high satisfaction and retention. Reporting to the COO, the position oversees sales operations, product knowledge development across the sales force, and key account engagement to achieve defined sales targets and market share growth. Reporting to the COO, the Product Sales Specialist is responsible for achieving sales quota in the assigned product lines and for supporting the product-line success of an assigned team of sales associates.

Responsibilities:
- Development of new market
- Overseeing local and regional sales, promotions and campaigns
- Supports the success of an assigned team of salespeople, Account Managers, Business Development Sales Representatives, and trainers.
- Meets assigned targets for profitable sales growth in assigned product lines.
- Monthly market research/feedback
- Suggests to the business product types that are doing very well in the market if not in the business portfolio
- Provides coaching and professional development to team-member sales associates to enhance their product knowledge and sales skills.
- Planning and directing the hiring and training of new Sales Representatives.
- Directing and coordinating all sales activities locally and regionally.
- Preparing sales budgets and projections and approving expenditures.
- Tracking and analysing sales statistics based on key quantitative metrics.
- Handling and resolving customer complaints regarding a product or service.
- Setting discount rates and determining price schedules.
- Advising distributors and dealers on policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Delivering top-notch results for all locations within the assigned area.
- Being the role model for store managers in all aspects of the job and demonstrating a professional, high-performing, ethical image.
- Ensuring all locations are providing top-notch customer service and achieving their retention goals.
- Lead demand-generating marketing activities in the assigned market for the assigned product specialty.
- Establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts.
- Coordinate the customer involvement of other company personnel when needed, including support resources, team members, and management.
- Achieves assigned product sales quota.
- Supports initiatives that ensure product profitability.
- Achieves product growth targets in the assigned geography or account base.
- Maintains high customer satisfaction ratings that meet company standards.
- Completes required training and development objectives within the assigned time frame.
- Responds to the customer support requirements of the supported team, including account management and business development sales representatives, implementation and service personnel, and other sales and management resources as needed.
- Works closely with Customer Service Representatives to ensure customer satisfaction and problem resolution.
- This position may be assigned to support geography or one or more named account teams.
- Perform other tasks as may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a B.Sc degree.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of sales experience in a business-to-business and large/strategic customer segment.
- Experience in Modern trade is an added advantage.
- A record of achievement in the Account Manager position.
- MS Word proficiency
