Job summary

The Procurement Manager owns the entire procurement programme for the project, with particular responsibility for the international import strategy. With multiple high-value, long-lead items requiring international procurement and successful clearance through Lagos ports, this is one of the most operationally critical roles on the project.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the project procurement schedule; ensure all materials, plant, and equipment are ordered, manufactured, shipped, cleared, and on site in time to support the construction programme
  • Lead the international import procurement programme for all long-lead items including wet room and bathroom systems, marine-grade aluminium windows and doors, generators, water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, sanitaryware, solar power panels and inverters, gym equipment, security systems, and all other imported materials
  • Appoint and manage the customs clearing agent; track all vessel ETAs, port arrivals, and clearance progress daily during port operations
  • Build contingency time into all import schedules to account for Lagos port delays
  • Manage all local procurement: ready-mix concrete, reinforcement steel, blockwork, timber, and all locally-sourced materials
  • Maintain the procurement register: all orders, delivery dates, on-site confirmation dates, and actual versus planned delivery performance
  • Manage all vendor and supplier relationships; resolve supply issues proactively
  • Coordinate with the Site Logistics Coordinator on delivery scheduling and on-site storage allocation
  • Report procurement status to the Commercial Manager and Programme and MEP Manager weekly


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years of procurement experience, with at least 4 years managing international import procurement for construction projects in Nigeria
  • Direct experience with Lagos port clearance procedures and customs documentation for construction materials
  • Knowledge of Incoterms, letters of credit, and international trade documentation
