Pig Farm Manager

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily piggery operations and ensure smooth farm activities.
• Supervise feeding, watering, cleaning, and general animal care.
• Monitor pig health, growth, breeding, and production performance.
• Ensure proper hygiene, biosecurity, and disease prevention practices.
• Coordinate farm attendants and assign daily responsibilities.
• Maintain accurate records of feed usage, animal health, mortality, breeding, and farm expenses.\
• Monitor feed inventory, farm supplies, and equipment.
• Identify and report signs of illness, unusual animal behaviour, or operational challenges.
• Work with veterinary professionals when necessary.
• Prepare regular farm activity and performance reports for management.
• Ensure compliance with approved farm procedures and animal welfare standards.
• Recommend practical improvements to farm productivity and operational efficiency.

Requirements:

• HND in Animal Science, Animal Production, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Relevant professional training or certifications in piggery management are an advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience managing a pig farm or commercial piggery.
• Demonstrable experience in pig production, feeding, breeding, health monitoring, and farm supervision.
• Previous experience managing farm workers and maintaining farm records.
• Experience working in a commercial or structured agricultural operation is an advantage.

Required Skills:

• Strong practical knowledge of pig farming and production management.
• Good understanding of pig nutrition, breeding, and animal health.
• Ability to identify common health and management issues early.
• Staff supervision and leadership skills.
• Good record-keeping and reporting ability.
• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively to farm emergencies.

• Must be willing to work at the company’s farm in Edo State.
• Must be available for daily farm supervision and operational responsibilities.

• Ability to work in a farm environment and coordinate with farm attendants.
