The pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications, providing professional pharmaceutical advice and patient counselling, managing pharmacy inventory, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional standards. The role also involves supervising pharmacy staff, maintaining accurate records
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Dispense prescription and OTC medicines accurately and safely.
- Counsel patients on proper medication use, dosage, side effects, and precautions.
- Review prescriptions and identify potential drug interactions or medication errors.
- Provide professional advice and refer patients to doctors when necessary.
- Manage pharmacy stock, including ordering, receiving, storage, expiry monitoring, and inventory control.
- Maintain accurate prescription, dispensing, and controlled-drug records.
- Ensure compliance with Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) regulations and professional standards.
- Provide excellent customer service and handle customer enquiries professionally.
- Supervise and guide pharmacy technicians and healthcare assistants.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional pharmacy environment.
- Support pharmacy sales and operational targets while maintaining professional ethics and patient safety.
Requirements:
- B.Pharm or Pharm.D. from a recognized institution.
- 3 years of experience
- Registered with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria.
- Valid practicing license.
- Good communication, customer service, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Retail/community pharmacy experience is an advantage.
