Performance & People Operations Specialist
Job summary
We are seeking a Performance & People Operations Specialist (Performance Management) who will own and run the company’s end-to-end performance management cycle—goal setting, ongoing feedback, reviews, calibration, and performance improvement plans—ensuring consistency, fairness, and measurable impact. You will partner closely with managers and leadership to strengthen execution, accountability, and employee growth.

Responsibilities:
- Design & Improve the Performance Framework
- Develop and maintain performance processes: OKR/KPI goal setting, monthly/quarterly check-ins, mid-year and year-end reviews, and calibration
- Define rating scales, evaluation guidelines, competency/behavior standards, and performance levels
- Run calibration sessions to ensure fairness, consistency, and auditability
- Operate & Drive the Performance Cycle
- Ensure departments complete goal cascading, 1:1 feedback, reviews, and improvement plans (PIP) on schedule
- Coach managers on performance conversations, feedback techniques, documentation standards, and review best practices
- Track cycle progress and key metrics; provide insights and recommendations to leadership
- Performance Outcomes & People Decisions
- Support linkage of performance outcomes to compensation review, promotions, rewards, development plans, and role changes
- Facilitate talent reviews (e.g., 9-box), identify high potentials and critical roles, and support succession recommendations
- Support employee relations and disciplinary processes with proper documentation and fair, compliant record-keeping
- People Data & HR Systems (HRIS)
- Maintain accurate performance records, approvals, and secure documentation
- Use HRIS/Excel/Sheets for analysis (distribution, trends, department comparisons) to inform decisions
- Handle data in line with Nigeria’s data protection requirements (NDPR), ensuring confidentiality and access control
- Learning & Organizational Development Support (Nice-to-have)
- Deliver manager enablement sessions: performance coaching, feedback, conflict management, goal management
- Support Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and capability-building initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Psychology, Statistics, or related fields preferred
- 3–5+ years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in performance management/HRBP/talent development
- Solid knowledge of performance practices: KPI/OKR, 360 feedback, PIP, calibration, and talent review (9-box)
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, functions, analysis); HRIS experience preferred
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication; able to influence managers and drive deadlines
- Familiarity with Nigerian labour practices, disciplinary and grievance processes is an advantage
- Certifications are a plus: CIPM (Nigeria), SHRM, HRCI, etc.
