The Part-Time Quantity Surveyor will provide cost management, commercial, and quality assurance support across the organisation and fit-out projects. Responsibilities:
- Cost Planning & Budget Control
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost plans, and project budgets for interior design and fit-out works, especially for commercial projects.
- Review design drawings, specifications, and schedules to develop accurate cost estimates.
- Advise on cost implications of design revisions, variations, and value engineering options.
- Monitor and control project costs in line with approved budgets.
- Procurement & Commercial Evaluation
- Review RFQs, supplier quotations, and subcontractor pricing.
- Prepare cost comparisons and commercial evaluation reports.
- Support negotiation of pricing, payment terms, and delivery timelines.
- Advise on vendor and subcontractor selection from a commercial and quality perspective.
- Product Evaluation & Quality Control
- Evaluate furniture, finishes, fittings, and bespoke joinery products before procurement.
- Conduct factory visits and inspections to assess workmanship, materials, finishes, and compliance with approved samples, drawings, and specifications.
- Verify quantities, dimensions, and quality of items being produced.
- Identify defects, deviations, or quality concerns and report them for corrective action.
- Support quality assurance processes before delivery to the site.
- Market Survey & Cost Benchmarking
- Conduct market surveys to track current prices of materials, furniture, fittings, and finishes.
- Maintain a pricing database for commonly used interior materials and suppliers.
- Provide cost benchmarks to support budgeting, pricing strategy, and value engineering.
- Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and availability of materials.
- Valuation, Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare interim valuations, variation claims, and final accounts.
- Track and document variations, approvals, and cost adjustments.
- Prepare cost and commercial reports highlighting budget status and forecasts.
- Support project close-out documentation from a commercial and cost-control standpoint.
- Site, Factory & Team Coordination
- Attend site and factory meetings as required.
- Liaise with designers, project managers, site teams, and vendors to ensure alignment on cost, quality, and delivery.
- Support resolution of cost- and quality-related issues during project execution.
Requirement:
BSc/HND in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
Minimum of 4–6 years relevant experience in interior design, fit-out, furniture production, or construction projects.
Strong understanding of interior finishes, bespoke furniture, joinery, and FF&E.
NIQS membership or QSRBN registration is an added advantage.
