Job summary
The Operations Officer (Stock Broking) is responsible for the efficient processing, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting of stockbroking transactions. The role ensures seamless back-office operations, regulatory compliance, and effective support to traders, brokers, and clients in line with SEC and NGX rules.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
Trade Processing & Settlement:
- Process equity trades executed on the NGX in line with approved mandates.
- Ensure timely trade confirmation, clearing, and settlement via CSCS.
- Monitor settlement timelines and resolve failed or pending trades promptly.
- Prepare and upload trade data on relevant trading and settlement platforms.
Reconciliation & Account Management:
- Perform daily reconciliation of client portfolios, cash positions, and CSCS balances.
- Reconcile broker statements, registrars’ reports, and custody records.
- Maintain accurate books and records of all client and proprietary transactions.
Client & Broker Support:
- Respond to client trade confirmations, contract notes, and portfolio enquiries.
- Liaise with registrars, custodians, clearing houses, and counterparties on stock-related issues.
- Support client onboarding, KYC documentation, and account updates.
Compliance & Regulatory:
- Ensure full compliance with SEC, NGX, CSCS, and firm-level operational guidelines.
- Support regulatory filings, inspections, and internal/external audits.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for regulatory review.
Corporate Actions & Reporting:
- Process corporate actions such as dividends, bonus issues, rights issues, and share reconstructions.
- Monitor dividend receipts and ensure accurate credit to client accounts.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational and regulatory reports.
Risk Control & Process Improvement:
- Identify settlement, operational, and compliance risks.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and segregation of duties.
- Support automation and continuous improvement of operational processes.
Requirements:
- HND
- 3 years experience
