WE’RE HIRING: OPERATIONS MANAGER
Vanilla Restaurant & Lounge · Maitama, Abuja
Full-time, On-site | Reports to: Managing Director
ABOUT US
Vanilla is a restaurant, bar and lounge in Maitama, Abuja, known for great food, good music and memorable nights out.
THE ROLE
Lead daily operations across all departments, maintain high service standards and work with the Managing Director to deliver business goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Management
• Oversee the bar, kitchen, floor and support departments.
• Manage the day shift, including opening, service and handover.
• Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Coordinate kitchen, bar, service, security and accounts teams.
• Oversee venue maintenance, equipment, health, safety and hygiene.
Stock & Inventory
• Supervise stocktaking and reconcile inventory against sales.
• Manage requisitions, store issues and stock control.
• Source suppliers, negotiate terms and manage relationships.
• Investigate wastage, shortages and variances; take corrective action.
Sales, POS & Cost Control
• Manage the POS system, monitor sales and review end-of-day reports.
• Resolve sales and stock discrepancies.
• Track operating costs and identify ways to improve profitability.
• Prepare operational and performance reports for management.
People Management
• Lead and motivate staff across departments.
• Manage recruitment, onboarding and training.
• Prepare rotas, monitor attendance and maintain staff records.
• Conduct performance reviews and handle disciplinary matters.
Guest Experience
• Maintain consistent service standards.
• Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally.
Events & Marketing
• Plan and execute events and weekly programmes.
• Coordinate events, banquets and functions.
• Work with the social media team on promotions and event content.
Executive Support
• Support the MD with scheduling, proposals and correspondence.
• Follow up on key decisions and action points.
REQUIREMENTS
• 5+ years’ management experience, preferably in a restaurant, bar or lounge.
• Strong leadership and experience managing teams across departments.
• Excellent organisation, problem-solving, decision-making and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, especially Sheets/Excel.
• Discreet, reliable, results-driven.
