Our client is looking for a Managing Director (MD) who will provide strategic, operational, and commercial leadership to drive sustainable growth, profitability, and brand expansion across Nigeria. The MD will be responsible for translating the Board’s vision into executable strategies, strengthening manufacturing efficiency, expanding distribution

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute short-, medium-, and long-term business strategies aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
  • Lead market expansion initiatives, including entry into new geographic markets and channels.
  • Drive innovation in product development, pricing, and go-to-market strategies.


Operations & Manufacturing:

  • Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations, ensuring optimal capacity utilization, cost efficiency, and consistent product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with NAFDAC, SON, food safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve margins.


Sales, Distribution & Marketing:

  • Strengthen and expand nationwide distribution networks (distributors, wholesalers, modern trade, and key accounts).
  • Lead sales growth strategies to increase market share and brand visibility.
  • Oversee marketing initiatives to reinforce Smyle Ice Cream as a trusted, consumer-preferred local brand.


Financial Management:

  • Provide full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and profitability management.
  • Ensure strong financial governance, internal controls, and effective cash flow management.
  • Work with finance teams to secure funding or investment where required for expansion.


People & Organizational Development:

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing senior management team.
  • Foster a performance-driven, ethical, and collaborative organizational culture.
  • Ensure effective succession planning and leadership development.


Stakeholder & Governance:

  • Serve as the primary link between management and the Board of Directors.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including distributors, suppliers, regulators, and strategic partners.
  • Represent the company at industry forums and high-level business engagements.


Requirements:

  • HND/Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Food Science, or a related field (MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage).
  • Minimum of 7–15 years progressive leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role within FMCG, food & beverage, or manufacturing.
  • Proven track record of scaling consumer brands and managing nationwide distribution in Nigeria.
  • Strong understanding of food manufacturing operations, supply chain, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational and decision-making abilities
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams
