Maintenance Officer
Job summary
We are seeking a reliable and practical Maintenance Officer to support the day-to-day maintenance and smooth operation of our funeral home. The successful candidate will carry out general repairs, basic maintenance, and ensure that the premises, equipment, and facilities are safe, clean, and fully operational at all times.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Carry out general building maintenance and repairs.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs, such as fixing leaks, replacing taps, and clearing minor blockages.
- Undertake basic electrical maintenance, including replacing light fittings, bulbs, and sockets, and reporting faults requiring a qualified electrician.
- Monitor and operate the backup generator, including switching it on and off during power outages and carrying out routine checks.
- Conduct regular inspections of the building and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Assemble, repair, and maintain furniture, fixtures, doors, locks, and shelving.

Paint, patch walls, and carry out minor decorating works when required.
- Ensure the grounds, parking areas, and external areas are clean, tidy, and well maintained.
- Assist with moving equipment, furniture, and supplies as required.
- Carry out preventative maintenance to minimise equipment breakdowns.
- Liaise with external contractors for specialised repairs when necessary.
- Maintain a safe working environment and comply with health and safety procedures.
- Support the funeral home team with general operational duties as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Vocational qualification
- 2 years of previous experience in a similar role
