The Magazine Editor is responsible for planning, developing, and overseeing high-quality editorial content that covers energy markets, upstream/downstream operations, technology and sustainability. The role ensures accuracy, industry relevance, and strong storytelling while managing contributors and publication standards across digital platforms.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Develop and execute the editorial strategy aligned with industry trends and the magazine’s objectives
- Commission, edit, and approve articles, features, interviews, and opinion pieces related to oil, gas, and energy transition
- Ensure technical accuracy, regulatory awareness, and editorial integrity of all published content
- Manage writers, analysts, photographers, and freelance contributors
- Conduct interviews with industry leaders, regulators, and technical experts
- Oversee publication schedules, layouts, and coordination with design and production teams
- Maintain editorial style guides and quality standards
- Collaborate with marketing, advertising, and digital teams to grow readership and engagement
- Monitor industry developments, conferences, and reports to generate timely content ideas
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Engineering, Energy Studies, or a related field
- Minimum of 5-7 years' experience as a magazine editor, senior editor, or energy journalist within the oil & gas sector or energy sector.
- Proven experience as an editor, journalist, or content manager (energy/oil & gas preferred)
- Strong understanding of the oil & gas value chain, energy policy, and market dynamics
- Excellent writing, editing, and fact-checking skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and teams effectively
- Familiarity with digital publishing tools, CMS platforms, and SEO best practices
- Strong communication and leadership skills
