Responsibilities:
- Define and implement the magazine’s editorial vision and content strategy for the energy and oil & gas sector
- Plan, commission, edit, and approve articles, features, interviews, and opinion pieces
- Ensure technical accuracy of content related to upstream, midstream, and downstream oil & gas operations
- Collaborate with industry experts, journalists, analysts, and contributors
- Manage editorial calendars, publication schedules, and special editions
- Edit content for clarity, tone, consistency, and compliance with editorial standards
- Stay updated on energy policies, regulatory changes, market trends, and emerging technologies
- Coordinate with design, marketing, and digital teams to ensure cohesive presentation
- Oversee digital content, newsletters, and online platforms where applicable
- Maintain ethical journalism standards and fact-checking processes
- Represent the publication at industry events, conferences, and press briefings
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Communications, English, Energy Studies, or related field
- A Master’s degree or professional certification in journalism, energy, or business is an added advantage
- 4–10 years of editorial or journalism experience, preferably in energy, oil & gas, engineering, or business publications
- Proven experience as an editor, senior journalist, or content lead
- Strong understanding of the oil & gas value chain and energy markets
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong knowledge of energy industry terminology and technical concepts
- Ability to translate complex technical information into reader-friendly content
- Leadership and team-management skills
- Strong research, interviewing, and analytical abilities
- Digital publishing and CMS experience
- Time management and deadline-driven performance
- Networking skills within the energy industry
- Familiarity with energy regulations, ESG issues, and sustainability reporting
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and external contributors
