Responsibilities:
Case Management & Court Representation:
- Manage end-to-end litigation files, including file opening, case tracking, and court filing.
- Prepare and draft all litigation documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, processes, and correspondence.
- Represent clients in courts (Federal High Court, High Courts, Customary Courts, Magistrate Courts), tribunals, and other dispute resolution forums.
- Attend pre-trial conferences, interlocutory applications, hearings, and trials as required.
Legal Research & Drafting:
- Conduct in-depth legal research to support case strategies under supervision.
- Analyze statutes, case law, legal articles, and precedents relevant to client matters.
- Draft legal opinions, memoranda, briefs, and submissions to advance client positions.
Client Advisory & Counsel:
- Provide practical and strategic legal advice on litigation risk, statutory obligations, and dispute resolution options.
- Liaise with clients to obtain instructions, update them on case progress, and manage expectations.
- Support the development of dispute avoidance strategies.
Coordination & Collaboration:
- Collaborate with senior lawyers on case strategy, settlement negotiations, and complex litigation matters.
- Coordinate with external counsel where necessary.
- Engage with court officials, process servers, and stakeholders to ensure timely service of processes and compliance.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date case files and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with professional conduct standards, filing deadlines, and procedural rules.
- Monitor court rules, practice directions, and updates to litigation procedures.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience
- Degree in Law
