Role Description This full-time Litigation Associate role is based in Lagos and follows a hybrid work model, combining in-office collaboration with some work-from-home flexibility. The Litigation Associate will handle case management, including drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court documents, as well as reviewing evidence and preparing legal opinions. The role involves conducting legal research, assisting with discovery, preparing deposition outlines, and supporting trial preparation. The associate will liaise with clients, attend court hearings and conferences, coordinate with external counsel and experts where necessary, and contribute to strategy discussions to advance clients’ interests. The position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and consistent adherence to professional and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation and experience handling civil and commercial litigation matters.
- Proficiency in drafting Motions and other litigation pleadings and documents.
- Advanced Research skills for case law analysis, statutory interpretation, and preparation of legal opinions.
- Experience with Depositions, witness preparation, and evidence review.
- Familiarity with Courts procedures, filing requirements, and courtroom advocacy.
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and call to the Nigerian Bar; additional certifications in litigation or dispute resolution are an advantage.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- High level of professional integrity, client service orientation, and willingness to learn from complex, multi-industry disputes.
Experience: 2 - 5 years experience in core litigation
