Legal Officer

Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, service agreements, and transactional documents.
• Provide legal advisory support on corporate and commercial matters.
• Review and manage documentation relating to oil and gas operations (upstream and downstream, where applicable).
• Provide legal support on maritime-related matters, including shipping, charter parties, cargo documentation, and regulatory compliance.
• Support regulatory filings and ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.
• Conduct legal due diligence and risk assessments on transactions.
• Advise management on contractual risks and mitigation strategies.
• Liaise with external counsel, regulators, and relevant stakeholders when required.
• Maintain proper documentation and contract management records.

Requirement:

• Minimum of 5 years’ post-call experience.
• Strong experience in contract drafting and review.
• Exposure to commercial and corporate law practice.
• Experience in oil and gas (upstream or downstream) is highly preferred.
• Experience in maritime law will be an added advantage.
• Candidates without in-house oil and gas experience must have chamber experience servicing oil and gas clients, including contract drafting and transactional documentation.
• Experience in the banking or financial services sector will also be considered relevant.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and provide practical legal advice.
