Legal & Compliance Officer

Responsibilities:

Legal & Compliance Officer:

• Provide legal advice and support on corporate matters, business transactions, and operational activities.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Monitor compliance with applicable Nigerian laws, regulations, and industry requirements.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
• Maintain and update corporate records, legal documentation, and compliance registers.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, external legal advisers, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Support corporate governance processes and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.
• Conduct legal research and prepare reports on relevant legislative and regulatory developments.
• Conduct compliance reviews and support internal audits to identify potential breaches or gaps.
• Advise management on contractual obligations, legal exposure, and regulatory changes.
• Ensure statutory filings, renewals, permits, and other regulatory obligations are completed within stipulated deadlines.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) and qualification to practise law in Nigeria (BL).
• 1–5 years of relevant experience in legal, compliance, or regulatory affairs.
• Knowledge of Nigerian laws, regulatory requirements, and corporate compliance practices.
• Ability to review contracts, prepare legal documents, and maintain compliance records.
• Strong research, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and professionalism.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
