Sociology Lecturer
Job summary
The Lecturer in Sociology will teach the sociological foundations relevant to nursing and healthcare, helping students understand the social factors that influence health, illness and care delivery within communities.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures and tutorials in Sociology (with emphasis on medical/health sociology).
- Develop course outlines, learning outcomes, and teaching materials.
- Teach core concepts such as social structure, culture, family, social determinants of health, and health inequalities.
- Relate sociological theory to nursing practice and the Nigerian community context.
- Set, administer, and grade assessments, assignments, and examinations.
- Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and feedback to students.
- Participate in curriculum review and continuous quality improvement.
- Contribute to departmental meetings and college academic activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.
- Perform other duties assigned by management from time to time.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Sociology or Medical Sociology; a Master's degree is strongly preferred and an advantage.
- At least 2–3 years of teaching or relevant professional experience, preferably at the tertiary level.
- Sound knowledge of medical/health sociology and the social determinants of health.
- Strong command of spoken and written English with effective presentation skills.
- Competence in digital learning tools.
- Commitment to student-centred teaching and the ICARE core values.
- Evidence of research or publication is an added advantage.
