Lead Accountant

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements and management reports.
• Supervise general ledger activities and ensure proper reconciliation of accounts.
• Manage and review loan accounting processes, including disbursements, repayments, and interest recognition.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and internal reporting requirements.
• Monitor and reconcile income, customer repayments, and other financial transactions.
• Review accounts and investigate discrepancies or irregularities.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Supervise and guide junior accounting staff.
• Liaise with external auditors and relevant stakeholders when required.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and cost efficiency.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 4–6 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in financial services.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with loan accounting and portfolio management is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent leadership and team-management abilities.
• High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
