Role Description The Lawyer will provide legal advice, draft and review contracts and other legal documents, and represent clients in court proceedings, arbitration, and mediations. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include conducting legal research, preparing pleadings and opinions, managing case files, and engaging in negotiations with counterparties and regulators. The role involves direct client interaction, participation in strategy meetings, collaboration with colleagues across practice areas, and use of the firm’s technology platforms, including the My Paddy Law app, to manage matters efficiently. The Lawyer will also support the firm’s pro bono and social impact initiatives where required and contribute to internal knowledge development. This is a full‑time, hybrid role based in Abuja, with some work from home flexibility.
Qualifications
- Candidate should possess strong legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret statutes, case law, and regulatory frameworks.
- Candidate should possess expertise in litigation and dispute resolution, including drafting pleadings, handling court appearances, and managing case strategy.
- Candidate should possess skills in corporate and commercial law, such as contract drafting, review, negotiation, and advising on regulatory compliance.
- Candidate should possess clear written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise legal opinions, reports, and client correspondence.
- Candidate should possess proficiency with legal technology tools and document management systems, and be comfortable working in a tech‑enabled environment.
- Candidate should possess strong client‑relationship and advocacy skills, with a commitment to ethical practice and access to justice.
- LL.B degree from an accredited institution and admission to practice law in Nigeria; prior experience in a law firm or corporate legal department is highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, manage multiple matters, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
