Land Surveyor Trainee
Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Land Surveyor Graduate Trainee to join our surveying and construction team. The successful candidate will receive practical training and hands-on experience in land surveying, site measurements, mapping, data collection, and the use of modern surveying equipment and software.

Responsibilities:
- Assist senior surveyors with land and construction surveying activities.
- Assist in conducting boundary, topographical, engineering, and construction surveys.
- Set up and operate surveying equipment such as total stations, automatic levels, GPS/GNSS receivers, and measuring instruments.
- Take accurate field measurements and record survey data.
- Assist with establishing benchmarks, reference points, control points, and site coordinates.
- Support site setting-out activities for buildings, roads, foundations, drainage, and other construction works.
- Assist in collecting, processing, and organizing field survey data.
- Assist in preparing survey plans, maps, drawings, and reports.
- Learn and apply surveying calculations, coordinate systems, elevations, and measurements.
- Use surveying and mapping software to process and present survey information.
- Assist with checking site dimensions, levels, alignments, and construction positions against approved drawings.
- Maintain proper records of field measurements, equipment usage, and survey activities.
- Ensure surveying instruments are properly handled, maintained, and stored.
- Work closely with civil engineers, architects, site engineers, quantity surveyors, and construction teams.
- Follow company procedures, professional surveying standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Participate in training and continuously develop technical and professional surveying skills.
Requirements:
- Minimum of an HND in Surveying and Geoinformatics, Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
- Fresh graduate or 0–2 years of relevant experience.
- Strong interest in land surveying, construction, mapping, and geospatial technology.
- Basic knowledge of surveying principles, measurements, coordinates, and levelling.
- Familiarity with Total Station, GPS/GNSS, Auto Level, or related surveying equipment is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or other surveying software is an advantage.
- Good mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Willingness to work outdoors and on construction sites.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, follow instructions, and work under supervision.
- Physically fit and willing to travel to different project sites when required.
- Professional certification or registration with relevant Nigerian surveying bodies is an advantage.
