Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Providing the highest levels of service and support to the production workers and chefs, therefore a willingness to learn and take instruction are essential attributes to be successful in this role.
  • Washing and cleaning dining and cooking utensils.
  • Cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen, and the kitchen area.
  • Adhering to the cleaning schedule for the Company, the different production spaces, and the kitchen.
  • Properly sorting out vegetable waste for composting, and composting carefully, making sure there are no foreign objects.
  • Separating other waste into different categories: glass, metal, paper and cardboard, plastic.
  • Disposing of waste according to Company policies, state and regional guidelines.
  • Removing rubbish, washing and drying the dustbins, and placing new bin liners in dustbins.
  • Adhering to all internal controls, policies, standards and procedures.
  • Washing used items, and / or operating the dishwasher where available, pre-washing items to be put in, properly arranging items after they are washed, and washing the dishwasher every day (door, inner seal, filter, filling with dishwasher salt and rise aid, etc.).
  • Implementing and preventing exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace.
  • Working with the Chefs and conducting regular and continuous training for kitchen and service staff in the essentials and industry specifics of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) safety data sheets and recommendations in the workplace. Ideally have COSHH qualifications or similar qualifications.
  • Making sure culinary tools and equipment are properly cleaned after every use, and maintained in continuous, excellent working order.


Requirements:

  • Friendly, outgoing and personable.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Customer-focused with a hands-on, can-do, nothing-is-too-much attitude to work.
  • Meticulous and dependable with strong time management skills.
  • Understands how to use cleaning chemicals and materials in the correct way.
  • Knows which cleaning method and product is best suited for every cutlery, utensil, crockery, pot, pan, grill and other equipment used in the Company.
  • Able to work fast and under pressure during busy service times.
  • Keen to excel.
  • Computer literate.
  • Has a good command of the English language.
  • Can read and write one of the main indigenous languages in Nigeria: Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Can sit and / or stand for long periods of time (minimum of four hours).
  • Must not have any physical impairment which will make it difficult to stoop, kneel, bend, twist, turn, push, pull, grasp objects.
  • Demonstrates the highest level of integrity in all situations.
  • Shows good organization skills and pays attention to the little details in their work, crucial to ensure consistency and a smooth running operation.
