Junior Accountant
Job summary
The Junior Accountant will support the BD department in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. The role also provides financial support to operational units, particularly crane services and coil tubing operations.

Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions (invoices, receipts, payments)
- Post journal entries and update ledgers
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments
- Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding payments
- Reconcile vendor and customer accounts
Cost Tracking (Operations Focus):
- Track and allocate costs related to:
- Crane operations (fuel, maintenance, operator costs, mobilization)
- Coil tubing operations (equipment usage, chemicals, manpower, logistics)
- Assist in preparing job cost reports and profitability analysis
- Support budgeting and cost control for field operations
Bank & Ledger Reconciliation:
- Perform regular bank reconciliations
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions
- Support tax filings (VAT, WHT, PAYE) in compliance with Nigerian regulations
- Assist during internal and external audits
Inventory & Asset Tracking;
- Maintain records of operational assets (cranes, tools, coil tubing equipment)
- Track inventory usage and costs related to projects
Operational Support:
- Liaise with operations teams to gather financial data from field activities
- Support the preparation of invoices for completed jobs
- Assist in contract and billing documentation
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 0–2 years’ experience (NYSC completed)
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles
- Interest in oil & gas operations (crane and coil tubing exposure is an advantage)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a technical environment
- Integrity and accountability
- Must be willing to work in Eleme, Rivers State
- Ability to occasionally support field-related financial documentation
