Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the annual internal audit plan in line with CBN and SEC regulatory requirements.
- Conduct risk-based audits across operational, financial, and compliance areas.
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and governance frameworks.
- Review financial statements, reconciliations, and accounting processes for accuracy and reliability.
- Perform audits of loan disbursements, investment operations, and fund management activities.
- Identify risks, control gaps, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Provide practical recommendations to enhance compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Prepare clear and concise audit reports for management and the Audit Committee.
- Monitor and follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Support external auditors and regulators during inspections or examinations.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, IFRS, CBN prudential guidelines, and SEC investment regulations.
- Maintain proper audit documentation and working papers in line with professional standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CIA, or CISA (mandatory).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in internal audit, internal control, or compliance within a financial institution.
- Strong understanding of CBN and SEC regulatory frameworks and risk management principles.
