Job summary
We are looking to hire a Technical Insurance Underwriter who will be responsible for delivering professional insurance broking services to our clients in the region. The role requires proactive officers who can think outside the box to deliver efficient client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
- Engage clients and prospects, understand their risk exposures and make suitable, tailored recommendations to manage these appropriately.
- Conduct pre- and post-loss risk inspections, surveys, and risk assessments.
- Prepare, review, and issue insurance documentation including request for quotations, placement slips, policies and endorsements.
- Negotiate with insurers for competitive terms and secure optimal coverage for clients.
- Partner with clients and prospects to understand their risk exposures, simplifying insurance technicalities and delivering clear, tailored solutions that meet their needs.
- Manage and monitor claims from notification through to settlement, ensuring timely resolution and client advocacy.
- Develop and implement risk management recommendations aligned with clients’ risk profiles.
- Maintain accurate records of policies, claims, and correspondence in line with regulatory and company requirements.
- Issue renewal notices, premium credit and debit notes, and follow up on outstanding documentation.
- Support nationwide business development efforts through technical input on new and existing accounts.
- Ensure that operations and reports issued are compliant with NAICOM guidelines and internal control procedures.
- Service existing clientele while attracting new clients to grow the branch’s portfolio.
Requirements:
- BSc or HND (2:1 or First class).
- 2 to 5 years’ industry experience.
- Professional qualifications (min. of Cert CIIN).
- Demonstrable experience handling both life and non-life insurance portfolios is an advantage.
- Strong technical insurance and risk assessment capability.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigeria's insurance industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple clients’ portfolios and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
